- Providing free and competent Legal Aid Services.
- Spreading Legal Awareness and securing empowerment of vulnerable sections of society.
- Establishing a prompt and inexpensive Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism particularly- Lok Adalat and Mediation.
Who can be provided Free and Competent Legal Aid?
- Women and Children
- Members of Scheduled caste or
- Scheduled Tribes
- Industrial Workmen
- Persons with Disability
- Persons in Custody
- Victims of Human trafficking.
- Victims of Natural Disasters.
- Ethinic/caste violence, industrial Disaster.
- Persons with an annual income of less than Rs 3,00,000/- Or as notified by the Central/State Governments.
Where to go?
- Civil, Criminal and Revenue courts, Tribunals, any authority exercising judicial or quasi-judicial functions.
- In all Institutions that provide free legal aid services:
- National Legal Services Authority.
- Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
- State Legal Services Authorities.
- High Court Legal Services Committees.
- District Legal Services Authorities.
- Mandal Legal Services Committees.
